CPC is honored to have assisted the City of Deerfield Beach with the NE 3rd Avenue project which is a recipient of the 2022 Smart Growth Excellence Award. The Smart Growth Partnership (SGP) recognizes projects, policies, and communities that have used approaches that involve a broad variety of stakeholders and are innovative yet could be replicated elsewhere. These awards honor public-and private-sector entities that successfully use Smart Growth Principles to improve communities environmentally, socially, and economically. “SGP appreciates communities and projects that have successfully used the principles of Smart Growth to preserve and enhance quality of life while helping to protect public health and the environment.”
Under our Traffic Engineering Continuing Services Contract, CPC did an evaluation of the proposed lane elimination study in 2021, and provided a recommendation to the City and Broward MPO, supporting the complete streets initiative (CSI) for design and construction funding. The study evaluated the future traffic operations and capacity after eliminating one through lane in each direction of travel. The proposed improvements include a lane repurposing between NE 39th Court and NE 44th Street with temporary center turn lane and sidewalk extension, three new crosswalks, and five enhanced crosswalks. CPC’s team are thrilled to be a part of this Smart Growth and improving the quality of life with our complete streets initiatives.
