SeaWorld’s Aquatica Expansion

Industry Type:

CPC continues to play a key role in Florida’s growing entertainment industry with its contribution to SeaWorld’s Aquatica water park in Orlando. As part of the development of Ray Rush, one of Aquatica’s signature attractions, CPC delivered precise topographic and location survey services to support the design and construction of the innovative water slide.

Ray Rush stands out as a family-friendly raft ride that combines high-energy thrills with visual storytelling inspired by manta rays. The attraction features a powerful launch system that propels riders from a 60-foot tower into a swirling sphere and an open-air half-pipe—both firsts for the park. Designed with oversized 10-foot diameter tubing and vibrant aqualucent hoops, the slide creates a sense of speed and movement, offering guests an unforgettable aquatic experience.

CPC’s survey team was tasked with mapping the existing slide footprint and surrounding terrain using a 10-foot grid to accurately define contours and guide critical design decisions. This work supported significant infrastructure enhancements, including the addition of nine new pumps and a larger water collection tank to manage the increased water flow and complexity of the ride.

Working closely with SeaWorld’s design and engineering team, CPC helped optimize a compact project area that also integrates with the park’s Walhalla Wave ride. Both slides now share the same launch tower and landing pool, creating a cohesive experience for park guests and enhancing operational efficiency.

Led by Project Manager Jim Quartel, PSM, the CPC team applied a high level of technical expertise and local knowledge to help bring this attraction to life. Since its opening, Ray Rush continues to serve as a top-rated experience at Aquatica and represents a successful blend of innovative ride design and strategic land use.

CPC is proud to support major entertainment and hospitality developments across Florida. Our work at Aquatica demonstrates the value of thoughtful, high-precision surveying in bringing large-scale attractions from concept to completion.
