City of Oakland Park, Andrews Avenue Corridor Improvements

Industry Type:

Carnahan, Proctor and Cross, Inc. (CPC) proudly provided Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services for the Andrews Avenue corridor improvement project in Oakland Park, Florida. Stretching from Oakland Park Boulevard to Prospect Road, this high-impact initiative was delivered through the FDOT Local Agency Program (LAP) and led in collaboration with the City of Oakland Park, Broward County, and the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).

This major street improvement project focused on enhancing safety, accessibility, and curb appeal along one of the city’s busiest corridors. With careful coordination among local agencies and contractors, the team delivered a revitalized roadway that now better serves motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and families alike.

Key improvements observed and inspected by CPC included:

  • Removal of the former center turn lane to reduce vehicle conflicts and improve traffic flow
  • Construction of landscaped medians with native vegetation for added safety and aesthetics
  • Installation of green-painted bike lanes to promote cyclist visibility and multimodal access
  • A mid-block pedestrian crossing near NW 39th Street to support safe, walkable connections
  • Energy-efficient LED street lighting to improve nighttime visibility and reduce energy use
  • New mast arms and traffic signal upgrades for better control and compliance
  • Restoration of sidewalks, driveways, and curbing for smoother, ADA-compliant access
  • Roadway resurfacing and restriping for a clean, refreshed travel surface
  • Stamped asphalt intersections at select points to enhance visual interest and safety cues
  • A modern irrigation system to support new landscaping
  • Drainage repairs and upgrades to reduce flooding and extend pavement durability

This CEI assignment demonstrates CPC’s ability to help deliver community-driven projects with strong attention to detail and quality control. From preconstruction meetings through punch list and closeout, CPC ensured that every improvement met design intent and was built to last.
