
Historic North Swinton Avenue the City of Delray Beach has awarded CPC the Construction Engineering and Inspection contract to oversee the contractor in revitalizing N. Swinton Avenue with comprehensive roadway and utility upgrades. is experiencing pavement deterioration, including uneven road surfaces, asphalt cracking, and accelerated deterioration, which adversely impact roadway stability and rideability. Additionally, there are non-continuous sidewalks that hinder pedestrian connectivity throughout the roadway corridor. The City intends to provide improved bicycle/pedestrian connectivity along the North Swinton Avenue corridor, including to the dedicated bicycle lanes within the NE 2nd Avenue (Seacrest Boulevard) corridor along NW 22nd Street and improvements to the sidewalk located at the NE corner of NE 2nd Avenue and NW 22nd Street Intersection that were not included in the NE 2nd Avenue Beautification Project. The City will also include drainage improvements at the SW corner of NE 2nd Avenue and NW 22nd Street. Additionally, drainage, lighting, signing & pavement marking, and landscaping will be addressed throughout the project limits.
These upgrades aim to improve traffic flow, enhance stormwater management, and improve safety, while also enhancing the experience for residents and visitors. The project includes expert oversight to ensure quality construction, in-depth site analysis for informed design decisions, and key roadway enhancements such as new curbs, sidewalks, pavement, bike lanes, a roundabout, and improved signage. Utility upgrades will modernize drainage, sanitary sewer lining, and water mains, while ADA-compliant features and landscaping will create a more accessible and welcoming environment. Public outreach will keep residents and stakeholders informed, minimizing disruptions. These improvements will make N. Swinton Avenue safer and more efficient, support future growth, and increase property values. Delray Beach remains committed to progress, ensuring a modern and appealing corridor for all.
