CPC designed an 8’-10’ shared-use concrete pathway to accommodate pedestrians, bicycles, decorative pedestrian lighting, and native landscaping to complement adjacent natural preserve areas (Helene Klein Pineland Preserve and Saw Palmetto Natural Area). The two existing transit stops will be upgraded with new bus benches and shelters to promote ridership. The shared-use pathway will also include a loop, which will include a bike fix-it station, a kiosk, and benches. The path will provide connectivity to adjacent sidewalks and natural preserve areas. CPC worked closely with Broward County (Engineering Department, Transit, Parks and Recreation), and FDOT during the design process. CPC services also included relevant drainage, lighting photometrics/design (including electrical system), Survey, and utility coordination. CPC staff served as an extension of the City, which has acquired grant funds to build and maintain the facility. CPC staff assisted the City in obtaining FDOT permits to close two unused driveways, close the unused westbound right turn lane along W Hillsboro Blvd, and repurpose the eliminated lane to create a wider landscape buffer between the roadway and the 10’ shared-use pathway.
