SR 60 from 86th Avenue to 82nd Avenue
This three-mile segment of SR 60 involved the reconstruction of the roadway from a four-lane divided section to a six-lane divided section. The scope of work included the construction of two large retention ponds (15 acres and nine acres), extensive drainage upgrades including the piping of the IRFWMD canal with 82” RCP, signalization and lighting upgrades and decorative landscaping. The CPC team completed this project 200 days ahead of schedule which resulted in FDOT receiving a $700,000 under run in CEI funding and the contractor achieving the full incentive bonus. Total construction cost was $21 million. The FDOT Final Estimates Audit found no Errors and/or Omissions.
This project was awarded a “Davis Productivity Award”
by FDOT for the extensive cost savings that were realized.
CPC suggested dropping the speed to reduce the clear zone and the need for barrier wall – this saved the state $250,000. On the same project, we recommended utilizing an aerial feed to mitigate numerous drainage conflicts. During this project, CPC’s cost saving initiatives are estimated to have saved the Department over $1 million through conflict resolution, value engineering ideas and recovered utility reimbursements.
